| The positive and healing power of humor
| |
| | around the car, and couldn't think of
|
| cannot be measured! Humor helps to
| |
| | anything to do, except to break one of
|
| reduce stress, anxiety, and tension and
| |
| | the windows to get in! But, she didn't
|
| that's why I use humor to get out of
| |
| | want to do that, because her husband
|
| embarrassing situations, and there have
| |
| | would probably kill her (or worse), for
|
| been plenty in my life! I've eaten
| |
| | doing something stupid like this! It was
|
| plenty of "crow," and have gotten plenty
| |
| | cold outside and she had to think of
|
| of "egg on my face" too!STOP; LOOK AND
| |
| | something FAST!She looked down the
|
| LISTEN! That's the advice I give people
| |
| | highway, and noticed there were store
|
| if they want to get more humor into their
| |
| | lights less than a mile down the highway,
|
| lives. You have to "stop and smell the
| |
| | maybe a gas station or convenience store,
|
| roses," pay attention to the things
| |
| | she hoped! (this was before cell phones)
|
| around you; and you have to be a good
| |
| | So, she decided the only thing she could
|
| listener. People ask me where I get my
| |
| | do, was to start walking to use the
|
| ideas and humor, and the answer is always
| |
| | phone. She figured it would take her
|
| the same: around the home; around the
| |
| | about 15 minutes to walk to the store and
|
| work place, and out in the streets, etc.
| |
| | call her husband to come and get her, so
|
| I have two examples of embarrassing
| |
| | she she started walking.A few minutes
|
| moments I will share with you, and the
| |
| | after she left the scene, a police
|
| first one involves being a good
| |
| | officer stopped at her car to check
|
| listener.My ex-wife had a great sense of
| |
| | things out! What he found was sure
|
| humor, but she was not a very funny
| |
| | interesting. An abandoned car with the
|
| person most of the time. She rarely came
| |
| | engine running; the doors were locked and
|
| up with anything funny, or if she told a
| |
| | the headlights were on! What was the
|
| joke, she would usually screw it up!
| |
| | officer to think...foul play, perhaps?
|
| That's fine...I can't fault her for that!
| |
| | The officer looked all around the area,
|
| I screw up most of my jokes, too! But,
| |
| | to see if he could see anybody around,
|
| she shined when she told me the following
| |
| | but there was nobody. So, he called for
|
| story about what her receptionist did at
| |
| | help for other units to join in on a
|
| work one day. And, she picked up on this
| |
| | search!Meanwhile (back at the ranch), or
|
| bit of humor because she was LISTENING!
| |
| | at the store where Michelle had walked
|
| When she told me this story, I almost
| |
| | to, she arrived and called her husband on
|
| fell over backwards!Human ServicesThe
| |
| | the phone. From the phone booth she was
|
| state Department of Human Services (New
| |
| | calling from, she looked back up the
|
| Mexico), which handles child abuse cases,
| |
| | highway, and noticed flashing lights near
|
| was quite busy on this particular Monday
| |
| | her car! The worry set in right away,
|
| morning. Clients and attorneys were
| |
| | that something had happened to her car!
|
| waiting in the reception area, and
| |
| | She told her husband that she would meet
|
| several of the children were in the
| |
| | him at the car, which was less than a
|
| nursery, and the telephones were ringing
| |
| | mile north of the convenience
|
| off the hook! The receptionist had only
| |
| | store.Worried... Michelle was in a
|
| been on the job for about a week, and as
| |
| | hurry-up mode to get back to her car,
|
| in any new job, she was still trying to
| |
| | after seeing the flashing lights! As she
|
| find her way around, etc. As the morning
| |
| | walked faster and faster toward her car,
|
| wore on, the office scene continued to be
| |
| | she noticed more flashing lights, and
|
| quite hectic! And, by mid-morning,
| |
| | could hear dogs barking off in the
|
| things became a little dizzying for her,
| |
| | distance, and she didn't know what to
|
| as she tried to take care of everyone's
| |
| | think! She then noticed a low flying
|
| needs.About noon time...looking a bit
| |
| | helicopter with a spotlight shining all
|
| drained and overwhelmed with it all, she
| |
| | over the place. "Who or what could they
|
| was overheard to answer the telephone,
| |
| | be looking for," she thought to
|
| "Good morning...Human Cervixes...may I
| |
| | herself!Huffing and puffing, she
|
| help you?"* * *Another
| |
| | continued down the highway, and she knew
|
| embarrassing incident was told to me by
| |
| | something was not right where she left
|
| my wife, who had a friend named Michelle,
| |
| | the car! As she got closer, there were
|
| and the story goes something like
| |
| | more flashing lights; traffic backed up;
|
| this.Stranded!It was about 9:00 in the
| |
| | the sound of barking dogs became louder;
|
| evening, on a cold December night, and
| |
| | the helicopter flying low overhead...what
|
| Michelle was on her way home from
| |
| | could be wrong?After a few minutes, she
|
| attending a meeting at school. She was
| |
| | finally reached the scene, and as she
|
| driving on the outskirts of town where
| |
| | lumbered across the highway...huffing and
|
| she lived, when she noticed and felt
| |
| | puffing...she went up to the first police
|
| something was not right with the front
| |
| | officer she saw and said, "Hello,
|
| end of the car! She didn't know if a
| |
| | officer...my name is Michelle, and that's
|
| tire was going to blow out or just what
| |
| | my car parked over there. I locked
|
| the problem was, etc.So, she pulled off
| |
| | myself out; left the engine running and
|
| the highway to take a look. She got out
| |
| | the headlights on and went for help. Is
|
| of the car and went around to the
| |
| | there anything wrong?* *
|
| passenger side to check things out and
| |
| | *Life's embarrassing moments! We all
|
| she saw nothing unusual. So, she went
| |
| | suffer from them! If you have an
|
| back to get into the car to continue on
| |
| | embarrassing incident happen to you, try
|
| her way home. There was only one
| |
| | to capture it on paper or on film. As
|
| problem. SHE LOCKED HERSELF OUT OF THE
| |
| | the experts say, having the ability to
|
| CAR! OOPS! Michelle had a big problem!
| |
| | laugh at ourselves, at all the crazy
|
| She also left the engine running and the
| |
| | things we all do, CAN BE HEALTHY!
|
| headlights on! WHAT TO DO? She paced
